Art Shapes Cities
November 14, 2022
Kimpton Sawyer Hotel

What are the benefits of an arts-led revitalization process, and what are the best ways to invest in artists to activate and rejuvenate the central K Street corridor? This question is explored in a conversation between Scott Ford, Economic Development Director for the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, and Roshaun Davis, Community Developer/Cultural Strategist and Co-Founder of Unseen Heroes.

Moderated by Megan Van Voorhis, Cultural and Creative Economy Manager for the City of Sacramento, we explored this question with arts and cultural leaders from our region, including artists featured in the articulator: Sacramento Edition book—Liv Moe, Estella Sanchez, Trisha Rhomberg and Laurelin Gilmore.

articulator is a series of conversations with Sacramento-based artists and makers. These narratives, shared online and in print, capture the challenges and opportunities in growing and sustaining Sacramento’s creative communities. This project aims to promote the creative economy in Sacramento through personal storytelling. These biographies include perspectives on building and supporting the creative community, workforce development, the Creative Edge Plan, and entrepreneurship in the arts.
